Each half term, children are sent home a knowledge mat linking to either history or geography. The mats identify the following:
- What the children should already know from previous year groups.
- The key vocabulary they should know, what they will learn and words to challenge themselves.
- Key knowledge for their learning in this unit - facts in bold are 'non-negotiable sticky facts' - the children are expected to recall and retain this knowledge to support in future learning. These facts are repeated on future knowledge mats in the prior learning box.
- A Topic Traveller task (optional homework) to push knowledge and understanding further at home.
