It is with great pride that I can announce that we received a 'good' under the new Ofsted Section 8 inspection.
The Chair of Governors, Alan Cooke, would like to place on record a very big thank you and well done to the acting Head, Miss McPherson and all the members of staff for guiding the school through another successful Ofsted Inspection. Well done to all.
The report will be available on the Ofsted website http://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/ELS/112508
Alternatively you can read it on our website under the 'About us' tab.
This the perfect Christmas present for Westhouses Primary School.
Friday 20th November 2:30 - 3pm
We are hosting an open afternoon for all to pop along and see how we teach and promote anti-bullying at Westhouses Primary School. There will be a short questionnaire to complete before you leave.
Doe Hill County Park
A small committee of local residents has formed to assist the Parish Council, in promoting awareness and improve facilities at the park.
Among the suggestions put forward are new signs, to make the park more visible and make people aware of its suitability for picnicking, walking, running, cycling, fishing and skateboarding.
Although the residents of Blackwell have access to the Park along Gloves Lane, there is no safe access for the residents of Westhouses.
Railtrack are to be approached, to allow a footpath along the northern side of the railway, emerging at Gloves Lane. (The suggested access would be from the Alfreton Road Bridge at Westhouses.)
We believe that the application to Railtrack would be more successful, if supported by a petition from residents. It would be much appreciated, therefore, if you could sign the petition outside the school office.
Many Thanks
Ronnie Cowan
The Governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs J Whitby. She will be taking over from Miss McPherson as Head Teacher in January. Mrs J Whitby will be popping into school on a number of occasions after half term to meet the children, parents/carers and staff.
We are really looking forward to welcoming Mrs J Whitby to Westhouses Primary School.
Flu is a common infectious illness spread by coughs and sneezes. It can be very unpleasant, but you'll usually begin to feel better within about a week.
However for young children flu can be far more serious. It can lead to serious health complications including bronchitis, pneumonia and ear infections.
That’s why all children in school years one and two will be offered a free nasal flu vaccine at school.
Younger children aged two, three and four can receive a free nasal flu vaccination at their GP’s surgery.
Keep your children healthy and well this winter by making sure they get their flu vaccination.
