English Task

Reading Task

Maths Task

Day 1

Read a book about Christmas or winter.

Try reading the Christmas simple sentences.

You could cut the picture off so that the child needs to match the sentence to the picture.

(See files for this week)

Each day please could you read your school book or a book with an adult at home.

During the week, it is also important to continue learning phonics.

We are now working on Phase 3 Phonemes. You can practice by singing the jolly phonics songs each day (it only takes 5 minutes) Jolly Phonics Phase three on Vimeo

Go to the Phonics play website and play the free phonics games for phase 2.

Picnic on Pluto is a good game to practice real and nonsense words.

Pick a picture is perfect for practicing writing with phase 2 sounds.

This weeks new sounds will be ‘ure’ ‘ear’ and ‘air’

We will also be learning the tricky word ‘they’

Provide opportunities to compare quantities E.g. a plate with 3 crackers and a plate with 5 crackers. Which one has more? How do you know? Repeat with different numbers and objects.

Day 2

Read the Xmas reading comprehension and draw on what it says in the sentence.

(See files for this week)

Give the child 5 objects. Ask them to throw them into something (e.g. washing basket) noticing how many land inside the basket and how many land outside. Encourage them to record their results. E.g.

3 + 2   1 + 4

Day 3

Decorate a Christmas card and write your message inside it.
