Day 1 |

Play a rhyming pairs game Literactive - Teaching Children to Read
Make up a rhyming string e.g. dog, log, frog…

Each day please could you read your school book or a book with an adult at home.
During the week, it is also important to continue learning phonics.
We are now working on Phase 3 Phonemes. You can practice by singing the jolly phonics songs each day (it only takes 5 minutes) Jolly Phonics Phase three on Vimeo
Go to the Phonics play website and play the free phonics games for phase 2.
Picnic on Pluto is a good game to practice real and nonsense words.
Pick a picture is perfect for practicing writing with phase 2 sounds.
This weeks new sounds will be ‘ur’ ‘ow’ and ‘oi’
We will also be learning the tricky word ‘you’ and recapping ‘was’ and ‘my’ |
In Maths, you will be recapping weighing. Find objects around your house and decide which is heavier or lighter. Put objects in order of weight.

Day 2 |
Choose a character from a traditional tale e.g. the big bad wolf, little red riding hood…
Print out a picture or draw a picture of the character.
Describe the traditional character.
Add describing words around the character. |

Day 3 |
Have a think of a letter you would write to the character you described yesterday.
Say your ideas out loud today.
You might tell little red riding hood to be very careful or tell the wolf he has been very bad. |
We will be focusing on 0 – Zero this week. Talk about what 0 means. Take toys away until there is 0 left. You could do this with a familiar song or counting backwards. |

Day 4 |
Write a letter to the character you described.
Remember to: Use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence. Use a full stop at the end of a sentence. Try to spell words using the sounds you know. |
Try some sums where you add 0 e.g. 4 + 0 = 3 + 0 = What do you notice? |

Day 5 |
Write a letter to Santa.
Tell him all the ways you have been good this year. Let him know what you would like for Christmas. Tell him what you will leave out for him on Christmas eve. |
