Day 1

This week, it is all a little bit silly! Look at the Swedish chef video where he makes chocolate mousse. The chef believes that he is very good at cooking, but he keeps making silly mistakes. What is his mistake in this video? Do you think you can eat his chocolate mousse? Why not? Why is he a little bit silly?

 

Play a silly chef game! In pairs: Partner A put the hands behind their back, partner B put their hands through their partner’s arms. Together, they could act out making a chocolate mousse like in the story… or hot hot sauce!

Each day please could you read your school book or a book with an adult at home.

 

During the week, it is also important to continue learning phonics.

 

Go to the Phonics play website and play the free phonics games for phase 2.

 

Picnic on Pluto is a good game to practice real and nonsense words.

 

Pick a picture is perfect for practicing writing with phase 2 sounds.

Day 2

What goes wrong for the Swedish chef today? How do you think he feels when everything goes wrong? What do you think he was saying in this video? E.g. “Get down!” “Stay flat!” “Add some flour!” “Roll the dough!”


Could you use the speech bubbles document below to write something you think the Swedish chef is saying?

Day 3

Today, you will be creating our own recipe! If you made your own pizza, what would you have topping it? Could you draw your own pizza with toppings?

Pretend to be a chef, explaining which toppings would go first, second, next, last…

Day 4

Today, in school, the children will be making their own wrap pizzas. This may be a little tricky if self-isolating at home! However, the most important thing is to encourage your little explorer to cook, bake or make something to eat. Take pictures of them being a real chef!

Day 5

Look at pictures of the children cooking from yesterday. What was their favourite part about being a chef?

Model writing a short sentence about their day e.g. My pizza had ham on top. My cake was yummy.

Then, support your child to write a sentence about their experience.
