Week 5

English Task

Reading Task

Maths Task

Day 1

Note to parents: My example texts are much longer than I would expect the pupils to write! But, it is there to give you an example of what may be in the story.

Suddenly, the kiss flew past a hissing snake with sharp fangs, but the snake fell fast asleep. After that, the kiss whizzed past a huge tiger with a loud roar. As soon as it felt the kiss, the tiger lay down and wagged his tail calmly.

Today, is all about writing the big problem in your story. In your setting, there will be some animals that the kiss and knight whizz past. Can you write about the animals that the kiss goes by in your story?

Each day please could you read your school book or a book with an adult at home.

During the week, it is also important to continue learning phonics.

Go to the Phonics play website and play the free phonics games for phase 5. Picnic on Pluto is a good game to practice real and nonsense words.

This week for maths please could you follow this link if your child is a year 1:

And this link if your child is a year 2:

Complete one lesson per day by watching the video and completing the corresponding worksheet in the maths folder below.

Look at the titles of the worksheets for the order of the lessons.

This week Year 2 will be completing Week 10 lessons

This week Year 1 will be completing Week  12 lessons.

Day 2

Later on, the kiss whirled round and round a grey elephant with huge tusks! “Catch that kiss!” the knight panted, but he was feeling too tired to go on!

Just then, the elephant sucked the kiss right up its trunk and trumpeted it right into the knights net. Finally, the knight had caught that kiss!

Today, you will be writing the resolution to your story. What animal helps catch the kiss? How do they get it into the net?  Look at my example above to help you.

Day 3

Everyone was so happy when the knight, horse and kiss finally got back to the castle! Especially the prince.

Together, they cuddled up to listen to a bed time story from the king who was no longer in a rush. After a huge bedtime kiss, they all fell fast asleep. Shhhh.

The End.

Today, you can write your ending!!!! Have a look at my ending to help you.

Day 4

Today, look back at your amazing work! Maybe you could draw a picture to go alongside your story? Maybe you could make a border and decorate it! Make it look brilliant. This is your story to be proud of. When you are ready, read it aloud to your family. If you can, send me a picture! I would love to see it.

Day 5

Today, log onto purple mash and go to the app 2email. Can you send me an email? I would love to hear from you, and to hear what you have been enjoying about learning from home this week! I will reply to your message as soon as I can.

You could even send me a picture of your story.

Follow the link to the fourth lesson about materials.

In school this week, we will be using google maps to search for castles in the United Kingdom. What famous castles are there? Maybe you could use maps to search for: dover castle, Edinburgh castle, the Tower of London….

Follow the link for a short clip about castles.
