Day 1



This week’s activities focus on the book “Burglar Bill”


Read Burglar Bill when you get to the part were Bill says what is in the box, it sounds like police sirens, ask the children what they think is in the box and get them to draw a picture and label what they think is in the box. then continue to read the story. When you get to the bit were Bill says I’m going to do with all the things I stole, ask the children what they think he should do with them?  Then finish the story off. Vocabulary to look for and ask the children what they think these words mean: Burglar, Burgled, Stealing, Stolen, Property, Coca, Bakery and Widow.


Each day please could you read your school book or a book with an adult at home.


During the week, it is also important to continue learning phonics on https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/.

This week for maths please aim to complete 1 maths activity per day from the following options.


Option 1:  Follow this link to find maths activities for Summer Term W/C 22nds June. There should be a different activity for each day!




Option 2: Oak National Academy are uploading 5 lessons each week that you may like to use. https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/reception/maths/#subjects


Option 3: Don’t forget, you can play games on numbots and purple mash.


Day 2

Read Burglar Bill.

Tell the children that they are going to make their own box to put something special to them in. children to label their box with what is inside.  Tell the children to make sue they make it secure so burglar Bill doesn’t steal it.



Day 3

Tell the children that the box has been stolen by Burglar Bill, and that they must make the police aware of this.


Tell the children that we must write a letter to the police telling them that someone has stolen our things. 


Day 4

Read a letter from the police telling the children that they think it is burglar Bill who has stolen the boxes and that the children need to put some posters up to help the police to catch him and put him in jail.

Day 5

Tell the children that they are going to join the police force and that need to make their own badges. Children to add their own name e.g. officer John etc…



Other ideas


Look at finger prints with your children. Which type do they have? There is a sheet attached below to support this.


Mr. Cox’s brother is a police officer, if you have any questions you want to ask him, you could write these down and send them to me on tapestry and I will ask him them for you.
